Palma de Mallorca Travel Guide: Island Beauty Without the Package-Holiday Price
A budget guide to Palma de Mallorca — stunning old town, turquoise coves, excellent food, and how to find cheap flights to the Balearics.
Why Palma?
Palma de Mallorca has shed its package-holiday reputation and emerged as one of the Mediterranean’s most stylish city breaks. The old town is gorgeous — all honey-coloured stone, Gothic churches, and hidden courtyards. Beyond the city, the island offers mountain hiking, turquoise coves, and charming villages. Flights are cheap and plentiful, especially if you time it right.
Getting There
Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) is one of Europe’s busiest, served by Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2, TUI, Eurowings, and Vueling.
Cheapest months to fly: November to March (excluding Christmas). Returns under £25 from the UK are achievable.
Most expensive periods: July and August — prices double or triple. June and September offer a much better balance.
Pro tip: PMI has huge seasonal price swings. The Fair Finder’s Deal Score is especially useful here — a score of 7+ in shoulder season means you’re getting a genuine bargain.
